THE HIGHRISE PROJECT: PARKWAY TOWERS

Parkway Towers Project

The Highrise Project is a collaboration between myself and artist, Louise Atkinson. It explores the links between architecture and social relations within municipal highrise buildings and council-built estates. The project uses ethnographic and creative research, which is co-produced with residents.

The second project was run in partnership with  Zest, an organisation committed to supporting people living in disadvantaged areas of Leeds, addressing health inequalities and social isolation through activities which improve physical, mental, social and emotional wellbeing.

With support from Zest, we raised a small amount of funding from the Outer East Housing Advisory Panel which enabled us to run 5 sessions with the residents of Parkway Towers using photographs, videos and sounds to make create a digital story focusing on participants experiences of ‘home’ in the context of social housing.
